Pauline Abello

Dedicated to advancing academic programs with nearly two decades of expertise.

Mrs. Abello attended Grand Canyon University and graduated Summa Cum Laude as Student Body President from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Arts dual majoring in Political Science and Christian Studies, emphasis in Biblical Languages.

She is married to Derek Abello and is a mother of eight children. For almost 20 years, she has dedicated herself to classically homeschooling her children.

She is the founder and Headmistress of Excelsior Classical Homeschool Academy, established in 2018. Serving nearly 100 students, and over 30 families, they meet in Phoenix, AZ on Mondays to learn about the Lord and educate their children together in community.

Derek Abello

A visionary leader committed to operational excellence and growth.

Mr. Abello earned a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Arizona State University. With extensive experience teaching Biology and Chemistry in both traditional school environments and at Excelsior, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom.

A former certified Paramedic and Firefighter, he now manages Abello Bees, a business specializing in live bee removal. He is married to Pauline Abello, and together they homeschool their eight children.

Alexander Young

Headmaster, Lead Teacher, Co-Founder

A proven track record of exceptional leadership and creating dynamic, engaging learning environments.

Passionate about classical education, and an expert in the humanities, Mr. Young is highly regarded by his students. He has been teaching at Excelsior Classical Homeschool Academy for five years.

Also a certified expert in the Barton Method, he has established himself as a prominent figure in Arizona’s tutoring community. He has dedicated nearly a decade to empowering others to achieve breakthroughs in dyslexia while building a successful tutoring company that trains tutors and supports close to 100 students. He is happily married to Emily, with a son and another baby on the way.
